The Toshiba Space Chair

July 12th, 2010 by ntimm

the highest, high definition commercial ever made..
..to the edge of the earthʼs atmosphere

Toshiba ad campaign features extraordinary, world-record-breaking high-def footage
of a living room chair tied to a simple helium balloon and carried to the edge of space.
making of

Using the imagery captured by the 8 Toshiba cameras, Toshiba – UK produced a stunning 60-second HD commercial of a living room chair as it is carried into space by a simple helium balloon. The balloon flights were launched from a Nevada desert and ascended to an incredible, world-record 98,268 feet (18.6 miles!) altitude before breaking apart and falling back to earth. The IK-HR1S camerasʼ compact size (only 1.75” x 1.75” x 3”) and the HD-SDI video output capability with switchable 1080i/720p scanning options, made them ideal for the flight missions to the edge of space.

CLEVER LITTLE BAG :

With the ‘CLEVER LITTLE BAG :’, Puma kicks-off the next pivotal phase of it’s sustainability program.
The tens of millions of shoes shipped in our bag will reduce water, energy and diesel consumption on the manufacturing level alone by more than 60% per year.

In other words:
approximately 8,500 tons less paper consumed,
20 million Mega joules of electricity saved,
1 million liters less fuel oil used and
1 million liters of water conserved.
During transport 500,000 liters of diesel is saved and lastly,
by replacing traditional shopping bags the difference in weight will save almost 275 tons of plastic.
That’s only one brand, I hope others will follow.

But having said that, where am I going to put my bills for my income Tax?
Andif they’re just switching cardboard for fabric (cause they’re still using a lot of material) than what’s the real impact?

Expected to hit the shelves globally by 2011.

Après la création du branding de farweb.tv et un premier site flash béta,
je viens tout juste de terminer le MAKEOVER (DA) du nouveau site de farweb.tv. Un site avec une structure bien flexible et un contenu google friendly, mais qui transpire le flash..

Use the A-Z buttons to activate each object on the desk. Once you activated on of them, press the same button again to desactivate it. To reset the scene and start again, press Return.

Description >

“Each day, we are surrounded by seemingly insignificant objects, taking them from one place to the other,
or leaving them on a table for weeks, without paying any attention to them.
We ignore or forget them, using things only when we need to, making sure they don’t interfere or inhabit our space.
But what if they were not so stable and subservient? What if they could swivel, bounce or even fly.
And what if they did so all at the same time?

We want to imagine a place where objects could live and move, harmoniously, and of their own accord.
Without interfering with each other these objects would bounce, roll, turn and cross each other’s paths.

This experiment is about re-discovering our daily surroundings.

This is the making of the interactive video that was originally made for If You Could Collaborate exhibition.
Each object is assigned to a letter on the keyboard, and can be activated or deactivated at any time.”

Experiments based on the hybridisation of human heads and animal bodies are taking in a remote and mysterious laboratory in Mongolia, with the aim of creating a new species of pet. These disturbing tests were filmed in a series of videos that were uploaded onto YouTube and onto a fake website (now offline) and retrieved for Sonar as the image of the 2008 festival.
